Ladies! CO-ED Or Women's Only?

Thoughts from Malia Burcham, co-founder, instructor, and manager of Ride Guide:

We hold equality at a highest standard to ensure that no matter what you choose to attend, the experience remains the same. If you are a woman that considering attending a co-ed event, we guarantee you will have an excellent time and you will leave with the exact same value as a women's event!

Here are 5 reasons to consider a women's-only event:

  • We focus on different techniques that men usually don't think about while performing skills. Remember, we are different in a GOOD way! ;)
  • Sometimes ladies just want to be around ladies... and it's totally awesome and fun!
  • We can relate with each other with common challenges.
  • Meet new friends!
  • Let's face it... Less testosterone = Less ego and intimidation!

We do our best to place female instructors in the women's events, but often times we will have a male instructor who is still freaking awesome and has an excellent mentality. We ensure that the experience remains the same as we only work with instructors who have the same values as we do.

So if you really want a women's event but it's full... don't worry! Our co-ed events will be an excellent experience, guaranteed.

What Others Say

"My wife and I recently completed this class and it was incredible! We encourage anyone who has not done a mountain bike skills class to attend. RideGuide does an awesome job of helping you understand how to safely complete the skill and move your riding to the next level."

"I took a skills clinic on 20 December and both Brent and Malia did a great job. They both were very informative and ran the clinic very well. My riding confidence has improved and I cleaned obstacles I would not have been able to without their instruction and attention to proper techniques. I would highly recommend anyone looking to improve their mountain biking skills to look them up and enroll in one of their clinics. Thank you again for your skillful instruction and offering your clinic in the Tucson area."

"Brent and Malia are awesome! The fundamental skills class has improved my riding a ton. I am finding myself doing little sessions on my rides now, to work on skills they taught me instead of just hike a biking past the fun stuff. They watched as I struggled at first through drills, offered advice, and listened when I explained how I felt trying it out. As I worked through their pointers, they were dishing out some super stoke that helped build confidence as my skills improved. On the trail ride during the second half of the day, I was already attempting features that would have scared the crap out of me before the class. I definitely recommend investing in your skills with their help!"

"I started mountain biking a few months ago, and I am so happy I came across Ride Guide, and met Brent & Malia! I attended an all day women's MTB fundamentals class where I spent the morning learning and practicing basic maneuvers and skills, and building my confidence and capabilities on my mountain bike. After a few hours of progressively more difficult drills, we hit the trails and started putting these skills into practice. Brent and Malia are a fantastic coaching duo, and they were so positive and supportive while they were coaching me. They were encouraging and pushed me out of my comfort zone, while also respecting my boundaries for things I felt I wasn't prepared to tackle quite yet. I left the clinic feeling so much more informed and aware, and I continue to rehearse and implement all of the new skills I've learned in the clinic! I definitely feel more confident attempting features on more intermediate trails since I attended the clinic. I would highly recommend Ride Guide to anyone who is either new to MTB, or would like to hone their skills on the bike / ask some experts advice on how to approach certain obstacles or trails. Such a great day on the bike!"
